A Day of Firsts

Tonight was our first dinner together as a family. Since Coop's been home, all we've really been able to do is eat on the run. Typically, Abbie and I would sit on the couch and have dinner while watching TV, but with Cooper around, it's been "eat when you can, what you can, and hope the baby doesn't want any".

Back in late November, after Thanksgiving, we bought a turkey knowing that it would feed us for at least a week. When you have a baby, you want to have prepared foods in the freezer (we got a deep freeze from my friends, Alex and Rebecca Stickler, when they moved and it's been a Godsend). The frozen dinners makes it soooo easy to have food ready to go. So, we cooked the turkey today. It was the first turkey for either of us since we've always gone to family's houses for Thanksgiving. It turned out GREAT! Juicy. Succulent. Tasty. okay, I'm making myself sick (ate too much tonight).

We get together the salads, and put together our plates. The table's set. We have our wine glasses filled to the top with our Orangina (no alcohol yet...and I'm not missing it one bit). Cooper's asleep in his swing. Just as Abbie puts her butt in the seat...WAAAAAAHHHHH!

So, I grab Coop and walk him a bit to see if he's just tired, and he's not...he's hungry. I give him to Abbie at the table. She plops him on her funbag and he proceeds to have his gourmet dinner. So I sit down, and we have dinner. A nice, candlelit dinner with our turkey, stuffing, salad, Orangina, and the sweet sucking sounds of Cooper. What a night for firsts!
